About The Process

Writing is life draining work.

It feels that way to me. I'm exhausted at the end of a day of writing in a way I don't experience with any other kind of work. A day of writing is a day of pouring yourself out on paper, page after page. The characters, plot and scene all wear me down as they suck the life from me, in order to have a life of their own. After all, that's what writing is, or should be. Giving life to the characters in a story and creating an imagined world in which their story plays out.

As with any human endeavor, writing is a process. Sometimes it's straight forward. Sometimes it's rough going, a road filled with twists and turns; bumps and pot-holes. Sometimes it's a breeze. Now and again it's gut-wrenching and torturous. Still, there is a process to it. That's what this blog is about, "The Process", its joys and triumphs as well as its frustrations and defeats. I put it down on "iPaper" in the hope that sharing it will encourage others to persevere.
